Support of the Countess of Chester Babygrow campaign - NextGear Capital Ireland

The ‘NextGear Café’ kicks off a £10k effort to support the Countess of Chester Babygrow campaign

21st April 2015

As Chester based NextGear Capital approaches its first anniversary in May 2015, the team, which has now grown to over 50, has committed to raising £10,000 to the Countess of Chester Babygrow Campaign, with a series of fund raising events. The first of which took place on April 10th.

NextGear Capital’s fund raising efforts are designed to engage both the business’ own team members and the wider community. Collecting a ‘little from a lot’ means a sustained effort will be required. To fuel the efforts and spread the word across Chester Business Park, where the business is based, a one day only café was opened to raise awareness and to start eating into the £10,000 goal. Indeed ‘eating’ was a key part of the day!

Some description

Starting with mid-morning toast and pastries and working its way through cakes at lunchtime and on to afternoon tea, there was a brisk trade in food and drink sales of the homemade goodies. Just as importantly, the team spread the word about the charity and the NextGear Capital target.

By the end of the day, a total of £276.98 had been raised with a succession of visitors from across the Park, including; The Funding Corporation, Diner’s Club and Eden Red, all eagerly digesting the fundraising initiative and the food!

“Our charity team has designed a year long programme of events and it was great to get under way with a simple but effective approach that was designed to feed people and their enthusiasm,” noted organiser Helen Gorrell. “The centrepiece of our efforts is a virtual journey of 8000 miles to our Head Office in Carmel in the USA. By contributing miles travelled by cycling, walking and swimming, we aim to travel the distance by January 2016. If anybody fancies supporting the ‘journey,’ adding a few miles and contributing a few pounds they are always very welcome. They can track our weekly progress at our Twitter account at @nextgearcapuk.”
